Peña, who catches the ball for the first out of inning, appeared to be hitting Alvarez in the face with his hand as the left player ran in to try to play with the ball. Both players fell to the ground, where Alvarez remained for several moments while being cared for by coach Dusty Baker and the Astros coaching staff. Eventually he got to his feet, but the medical cart was requested to remove Alvarez from the field. Penia also left the game after the clash, leaving under his control. Alvarez is in the middle of a dominant season on the plate, hitting 0.316 / .412 / .658 with 23 homers and 56 RBI.
