What about that wind? This has been the question I’ve been asked the most since the snow melted. June temperatures were nearly hitting their seasonal values, and although it felt a little humid – the Sault region had only slightly more rain than normal. The big difference was the wind and rain that came every few days. Winds blow above our heads in the middle of our atmosphere, controlling the speed and direction of weather systems. This spring, that flow was in what we call a west-to-east zonal flow. This setup creates fast moving weather systems that never stick around for long but bring lots of wind and rain every few days. To find a large stretch of warm sunny weather means this pattern needs to change, which is expected to happen in July. On Monday the weather will be cloudy with rain and outside all day as the temperature reaches 20°C. Rain will arrive in the early morning, with a break in the afternoon before returning for the evening. On Tuesday the sky will be gradually clear, with daily highs reaching 23°C. On Wednesday the weather will be mainly clear with maximum temperatures during the day near 25°C. The end of this work week brings mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.
