The attack occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Friday, June 17 at Kipling Station, which is located in the area of Kipling Avenue and Dundas Street West. Police had said a man on the bus poured a liquid substance on the woman and set her on fire. He was arrested nearby and charged. Police said they suspect the attack was hate-motivated and random. Toronto paramedics rushed the woman to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. At the time, police said he had suffered second- and third-degree burns. Tenzin Norbu, 33, was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, common nuisance endangering the lives and safety of the public and mischief over $5,000 interfering with property. Police told CBC News Tuesday afternoon that the case was handed over to their homicide unit after the victim died. “We are aware and a homicide has been notified,” said Const. Alex Lee, a Toronto police spokesman, said in an email.
