Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) have launched an investigation into the incident. Following investigations, a 32-year-old Poole was arrested on suspicion of rape. He has been released on bail. Police are calling for witnesses to be present, including a man who stopped talking to the victim and a group of six women pedestrians. Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour of MCIT said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and would like to call again on any witnesses or anyone with information to appear. “I would especially like to hear from a man who was driving a truck with a flat surface that was transporting vehicles that stopped to talk to the victim around 23.15. I also appeal to a group of six women pedestrians walking along Poole Street toward Merley around 11:30 pm to get in touch. “I will also urge all motorists with dashboard cameras in the surrounding area, as well as residents with closed-circuit home systems or bell cameras, to check their plans at night for anything that may help our investigations. “There continues to be an increased police presence in the area and police officers can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.” Anyone with information can contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact by email [email protected] or by calling 101, indicating incident number 55220101902.
