Iga Swiatek wins again, but does not consider herself at the level of the Williams brothers
World number one Iga Swiatek knows she still can’t be compared to Serena or Venus Williams, despite winning her 36th consecutive race to set a new record. Swiatek’s 6-0 6-3 victory over Jana Fett at Center Court extended its winning streak that began in February to the 21st century in a row, surpassing the 2000 Venus Willams record. The 21-year-old, who is already a two-time French Open champion and a hot favorite for the SW19 crown, is certainly ready for bigger things, but insists she is not yet at the level of the Williams brothers. Katie Boulter hopes hard work will pay off this year after winning Wimbledon
The 25-year-old Boulter was once the great hope of the British for the future, but the injury has hindered her in recent years and she could not play consistently. The return from her last fitness issues is going well after impressive routes in Birmingham and Eastbourne, where she beat Carolina Pliskova and followed with a comfortable 7-5 6-3 victory over France’s Clara Burel in SW19. The remarkable story of Ryan Peniston
British tennis star Ryan Penniston said having cancer as a baby was a “disguise” because it made him “tougher as a player” after winning his Wimbledon single. The 26-year-old wildcard was loudly applauded by his parents, Paul and Penny, from the side of a crowded stadium as he watched his triumph over Swiss Henri Laaksonen. At the age of one, Peniston was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a tumor near his stomach that required surgery and chemotherapy years before regular examinations. The Essex-born player had previously attributed his delayed rise to tennis in his wrestling as a youngster, growing up “one foot shorter than all my peers”. Jack Draper reacts to the first round victory over Zizou Bergs
“It simply came to our notice then. It was a difficult match. I felt that Zizu is a very dangerous player. He is someone I have met from the challengers. He is quite supple. He can play incredible tennis, then he can play quite relaxed tennis. He is generally a great competitor, a difficult player to play. “I am just happy to be free. Obviously this is my first kind of Grand Slam based on value, winning the main draw. Obviously I am very happy. “Yes, these are all good new experiences for me and I’m glad I got the win today.” (PA) Jack Rathborn June 29, 2022 10:20 1656493891
Morning showers at Wimbledon could delay the game
It is raining in south west London this morning and a 20-minute flood just soaked the All England Club. Roofs and covers are out throughout SW19, so most of the surfaces have been retained from the worst, but it could mean some delays in starting the hours this morning if it continues, with the game starting at 11 p.m. μ. Dan Evans thinks about the defeat in the first round by Jason Kubler
“Yes, Jason [Kubler] played very well. Yes, I have to praise him. Yes, it’s not easy to get, but he was better than me. Yes, that was it. Yes, it’s hard to get, but he was better than me today. That’s all I can really say. I do not think I played very badly. He was aggressive. He had a good game plan. “Well done to him and his coach for drawing up the game plan and well done to Jason who carried it out.” (REUTERS) Jack Rathborn 29 June 2022 10:11 1656493451
Stefanos Tsitsipas fell in love with the grass after winning the title in Mallorca with the victory in the first round
“Yes, it made me fall in love with the surface more. I like playing on the grass. Having tournament victories on surfaces elevates you, puts you in a better mood. “It’s very good for your self-esteem, and that’s how I felt. It is important to feel this way, especially when you are playing at the highest level of tennis. “You know, winning titles can really boost your confidence and help you win bigger titles later in your career. You have to start small. You do not go very quickly, unless, I do not know, if we do not take the girls as an example, they seem to do it right away. But from the men’s side, it’s a bit different. “ (Getty Images) Jack Rathborn29 June 2022 10:04 1656492522

Jack Draper “ready to do damage” at Wimbledon after the maiden victory in the Grand Slam
Jack Draper is ready to “do some damage” at Wimbledon after recording his first Grand Slam victory. The 20-year-old has shown this year that he is more than capable of building his distinctive talent as a youngster, climbing more than 150 places in the standings since he started Novak Djokovic in his debut 12 months ago. His game fits in well with the grass and he reached the All England Club as a player in the top 100 and a real danger for the rest of the field after reaching the semifinals in Eastbourne. He beat another Belgian Zizou Bergs, champion at the recent Ilkley Challenge, second division, but Draper fought three sets in the third set to claim a 6-4 6-4 7-6 (4) victory on the court. 12.
