Climb the hill this summer to revisit the former Battery Hotel and have the opportunity to visit the refurbished Emera Innovation Exchange. The former Battery Hotel, now the Memorial University Emera Innovation Exchange, is a landmark building overlooking St. Petersburg. John’s from the 1960s. His first iteration was a drive-in motel and LPG bar. If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit and are curious to see the interior, you can take a stroll down the hill to enjoy a nostalgic Newfoundland and Labrador-style buffet brunch in the beautiful meeting room. The Signal Hill Campus is positioned as a hub for innovation and public engagement and a provincial resource. The Come Home Year in Newfoundland and Labrador is a great opportunity to rediscover this dynamic space in the community and its potential to connect people both on and off the screen. Jordan Wright, director of operations, conference services and events at Signal Hill Campus, has been involved in the renovation project since Memorial bought the former hotel in 2013 and is excited to host the special event. Mr. Wright points to Memorial’s new strategic plan, Transforming Our Horizons, as a source of inspiration and welcoming the community. “Memorial’s new strategic plan emphasizes the creation of welcoming, open campuses, and we truly embrace that spirit here at Signal Hill Campus,” he said. “We look forward to our Signal Hill brunch as a way to welcome the community, both locals and visitors alike, to our beautiful facilities here at the Emera Innovation Exchange. “We are pleased to partner with members of the Signal Hill Campus family, Red Oak Catering, Business & Arts Newfoundland and Labrador and the Johnson Geo Center to celebrate our countryside and offer this brunch at the Emera Innovation Exchange. Come with us for food, fun and entertainment in July and August! “ For more information about the event, which will take place on two dates, Sunday 31 July and Sunday 21 August, including the menu and how to buy tickets, visit the online address.
