Exclusive Sports Group agents Buddy Baker and Tony Bonagura completed the deal on Tuesday with Washington senior vice president of football operations Rob Rogers. The three-year extension for McLaurin includes a $ 28 million signing bonus, the largest given to any broad recipient, and also guarantees 76.4% of the new money in the deal.

The deal contracts McLaurin, 26, with Washington until the 2025 season. McLorin’s rookie contract was set to expire after the 2022 season. He had missed the three weeks of OTA volunteers as well as the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp. The deal ends what would be a headache for a franchise that no longer needed. McLaurin’s popularity both in the locker room as a leader and as a fan base would result in greater dissatisfaction with Commanders. Washington coach Ron Rivera said on June 15 that they started having more discussions a week earlier. A source told ESPN’s John Keim that Rivera approached McLaurin – not to negotiate but to reiterate his importance to the organization. Washington did not waver in its desire to sign McLaurin and did not consider exchanging him. McLaurin surpassed 1,000 yards taking in two of his first three seasons after being selected in the third round of the 2019 draft, although he played with nine different starting generals. He caught 77 passes for 1,053 yards and five scores last season, having grabbed 87 for 1,118 yards and four touchdowns last season. He finished with 919 yards of reception as a beginner. He has lost just three games in his career.
