Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue announced shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday that the fire was under control at Cotton End, Far Cotton and crews would remain on site overnight to put it out. A spokesman said: “The fire in the warehouse railway network started just before 6.40 pm. this afternoon (Tuesday 28 June) and at the height of the fire we had eight pumps and an aerial device.

The fire was visible for miles this afternoon “Residents are being advised that the electricity supply in the area has been cut off so that Western Power can isolate the gas and electricity supply to make the building safe. The power failure is expected to remain in place for several hours. “Due to the thick smoke and fumes caused by the fire, residents are still advised to stay indoors and keep all doors and windows closed. “Local roads are also expected to remain closed for the time being and drivers are advised to continue to find alternative routes,” the spokesman added. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this incident.
