The Fort Myers New Press reports that Sheila O’Leary, 39, who was convicted Wednesday, was only feeding her little one raw fruits and vegetables. Ezra O’Leary weighed just 17 pounds when he died in 2019, about seven pounds below the average for a baby his age. At the time of his death, his parents noticed that he had stopped breathing. The convicted murderer and her husband Ryan told detectives that the child was on a high vegan diet and that they were breastfeeding. Prior to his death, little Ezra had not eaten for a week and had difficulty sleeping. The couple was then arrested and charged. An autopsy confirmed that Ezra had died from complications related to malnutrition. Sorry, but this video failed to load. But even when he died, Ezra’s mother did not seek medical attention for the boy. “He chose to ignore his screams,” Assistant Prosecutor Sarah Miller told the court. “He did not need a scale to see his bones. He did not need a scale to hear his crying. “ In addition, the prosecutor said that they neglected their other three children. “We are here because their children were starving so much that the youngest were starving,” Miller said. Ryan’s husband is due to stand trial on the same charges. [email protected] @HUnterTOSun
