Source: USC and UCLA plan to leave for the Big Ten as early as 2024. The move * has not been finalized * at the highest power levels. – Jon Wilner (@wilnerhotline) June 30, 2022 From Wilner’s tweet, CFB magazines became overwhelmed and as information leaked the next hour, both ESPN.com’s Pete Thamel and The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach said the deal was over and an announcement was imminent: The transition of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten is complete, say sources at @TheAthletic. An announcement can be made today. – Nicole Auerbach (@NicoleAuerbach) June 30, 2022 He spoke to some sources who described the USC and UCLA move to the Big Ten as typical, with a press conference expected in the next 24 hours. Maybe just tonight. This is basically done. – Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) June 30, 2022 UPDATE: It is final. This is obviously terrible news for WSU, as the Cougars want to continue to be relevant at the highest level of the college track and field – and continue to reap the financial benefits of this deal. The next Pac-12 media rights deal is just around the corner, and the conference’s negotiating position is being massively weakened without both Los Angeles schools on the television footprint. We will update this story as we have more information – and I think I will have some thoughts that will be a little more coherent at some point today – but for now, have them in the comments. What is happening to us? What about Pac-12?
