This storm will affect plans for the 4th of July weekend in the eastern Carolinas.
This new tropical storm will bring the threat of rip currents and rough surf to the Carolina coast and possibly as far north as southeastern Virginia. Stay out of water if possible.
Clusters of heavy rain will rotate along these coasts throughout this weekend. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected, with isolated amounts of up to 4 inches.
Since Colin is on land, the chance of intensification is rather low, which means the threat of damaging winds is also low. But gusty winds will occur in bands of rain that will make landfall.
A tropical storm warning is in effect from the South Santee River in South Carolina to Duck, North Carolina and for the Pamlico Sound where winds will likely exceed 40 mph this weekend in these tropical rain zones.
