A 54-second video clip, apparently recorded from the perspective of another worker, was posted on Reddit on Wednesday morning. A witness standing off-camera is heard saying: “Oh my God, how the f–k did that happen?” Videos of the same incident captured from different angles were also shared on other social media channels. Warning: Video contains strong language The worker in the video is employed by PCL Constructors Canada as a rigger, responsible for ensuring that loads of materials are securely secured before they are lifted by crane operators. The development site is located on the corner of Front Street West and Simcoe Street in the downtown core. In a statement, a PCL spokesman confirmed that “an incident took place” at the site on Tuesday. The worker’s hand “got entangled with a nail after hooking a load,” the spokesman said. “Luckily he landed safely on the desktop and was not seriously injured.” Toronto police, firefighters and paramedics told CBC News they had not received any calls about the incident. The CBC has also contacted the Ontario Ministry of Labour, which investigates workplace incidents like this, to ask if reports have been filed. PCL said it is “cooperating with all relevant authorities” and that the investigation is ongoing.
