Instagram is under tremendous pressure from Chinese TikTok, which is winning the war for people’s eyes. To combat TikTok, the Instagram app is reportedly testing a new video posting feature that will turn them all into wheels. The change is intended to simplify the overall video experience on the platform. According to the screenshot shared by Matt Navarra on Twitter, the photo-sharing app has already started converting video posts into Reels for selected users and could be released to a wider audience on Instagram and Facebook. He wrote on Twitter: “Instagram now makes EVERY video on a wheel”. According to the post, once the changes are successfully implemented, anyone will be able to discover anyone’s Reel and use the original sound to create their own Reel. Those who have a private account, their Insta Reel will be visible only to their followers. The message also adds that anyone will be able to create a remix with their Reel if their account is public. However, it can be avoided by making some changes to the account settings.

A Meta spokesman confirmed the same to TechCrunch via email. They wrote, “We are testing this feature as part of our efforts to simplify and improve the Instagram video experience.” Instagram Reels was first released in 2020 after the Indian government banned TikTok along with other Chinese applications for security reasons. The platform gained immense popularity in the form of a short video of Reels.
The change is currently being tested and the release date is not yet clear. It is also not known what will happen to the existing videos posted on Instagram and whether we will continue to be able to post videos of up to 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, the app is also testing another feature like TikTok – a full-screen vertical startup. This will allow users to enjoy videos and posts in full screen mode.
