Speaking to the media on Thursday, Saanich Police Chief Dean Duthie told reporters that police met with two suspects outside the BMO branch at 3600-block on Shelbourne Street, and met with them. Six police officers were injured in the shooting, with three more being treated for serious injuries, he said. “I could not be more excited or grateful for their actions in the most demanding conditions,” Duthie added. More are coming. Many questions remain unanswered after Tuesday morning’s shooting, including who were the two gunmen, dressed in bodies, men who broke into a bank and shot at police – and what was their motive. Police also said that while there was “vague” information indicating that a possible third suspect was involved, they did not believe the public was in danger as they continued to gather information. A witness trapped inside the bank with the gunmen told CHEK News on Wednesday that he believed three suspects were involved. “I saw another gunman and then I checked myself that, my God,” I left my cell phone [in the office] “And I can not alert the police that there are three suspects, not two,” said Shelli Fryer. Questions also surround the suspect vehicle or vehicles involved. A police robot appeared to be searching the truck of a white Toyota Camry with black stripes near the scene of the shooting. He found explosive devices that were later transported to be safely destroyed in the Hartland landfill. There was also a white van at the scene, most likely a police officer, who later appeared with blood stained on the side. Chris Manso. He also said it was not clear what the suspects intended to do with the explosives thrown, or what the nature of the devices was.
