Sir Keir will deliver a speech at the Center for European Reform think tank where he will argue that the 2016 vote to leave the EU is “now in the past”. He is expected to say: “But the hope that underpinned this vote, the desire for a better, fairer, more just future for our country, is no closer to being realized. “We will not go back to freedom of movement to create short-term fixes. Instead, we will invest in our people and places and deliver on the promise our country holds. “If we want to restore faith in politics as a force for good, we must now get on with delivering on that promise. The Tories have no idea how to do it. Labor does. Labor has a plan. And that plan, a plan to ‘Make Brexit Work’, is the first stage of delivering that change and delivering a better future for our country.”
