Another day, another royal residence scandal to keep up. Aside from the mild drama between Cambridge and Princess Eugenia over who will move into the Adelaide cottage, Duchess Camilla has problems with her cottage. Because, yes, it has its own cottage (technically, it is a mansion) just a 15 minute drive from the estate it shares with Prince Charles. The Daily Mail reports that Camilla’s house, Ray Mill House, has only one nearby house: the Old Mill, which is owned by Phil Clayton. The two properties share a lane and apparently Clayton has renovated a garage on his property to potentially rent to tourists, such as Airbnb. In 2017, the real estate manager of her and Charles’s official home, Highgrove, wrote a letter on her behalf saying that they were concerned that the design of the garage “did not favor a regular garage, as there are three large windows and a door”. They also protested in 2018 that “the proposed plan seems to be bigger and taller than the existing building”. Okay! FYI, this house (for which Camilla paid 50 850,000 in 1996) has been a source of drama in the past. The Daily Mail reports that in 2006, it was revealed that the taxpayer was paying a huge ασφαλείας 1.8 million security bill on the property, which apparently led to all sorts of harassment. Anyway, this was the latest in Royal Housing Drama ™, see you next time! You may also like it
