The PK Prosecutor’s Office said on Wednesday that Cpl. Peter Leckie was charged with seven counts of breach of trust and two counts of computer fraud with alleged misconduct involving three people between January 2014 and October 2020.

According to the Surrey RCMP, Leckie allegedly used his position as a police officer to obtain information and communicate with members of the public “with the aim of establishing close relations with women both inside and outside the service”. “These are alarming allegations of breach of trust and fraud involving one of our officers,” Surrey RCMP Chief Assistant Officer Brian Edwards told a news release. Leckie has been with the Surrey RCMP since January 2010. According to a report in the Vancouver Sun, he was awarded the Commendation Officer in 2012 for “efforts to save the life of a woman who attempted suicide by hanging on January 14, 2012, in Surrey. “

The RCMP posted a photo of Leckie and asked for additional witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Professional Standards Unit at 604-599-7887. Leckie is currently being suspended for pay, but the RCMP said the approval of the fees would be “involved in the process to proceed with the fee-free suspension”.
