According to MacRumors retail sources, the new M2 MacBook Air will be available to customers from Friday 15 July. The report also states that pre-orders are expected to go live a week earlier on July 8th.

Features M2 MacBook Air

Unlike the 13-inch MacBook Pro, this year’s MacBook Air got a whole new design with flatter edges similar to the more expensive 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro – but with a much slimmer body. The new laptop has a 13.6-inch screen that goes from edge to edge and has a notch on the top with a built-in 1080p webcam. Both the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air 2022 are equipped with Apple’s new M2 chip, which is about 20% faster than the base M1 chip. The M2 also allows the new MacBook Air to support up to 24 GB of single RAM, as well as up to 2 TB of storage. In addition to two USB-C ports, the M2 MacBook Air also has a MagSafe socket for charging. In addition to the traditional Silver and Space Gray colors, the new MacBook Air also comes in Midnight (which is very dark blue) and Starlight (which looks more like champagne).

Availability

It is worth noting that, as with the M2 MacBook Pro, customers purchasing the new M2 MacBook Air may experience shipping delays. Right now, apart from the base model, any other configuration of M2 MacBook Pro has been re-ordered for the end of July. It is not clear at this point what caused the delays in the M2 MacBook Pro shipments, but they are probably related to memory and storage shortages. This lack of components is likely to affect shipments of the new MacBook Air as well. Read also: FTC: We use affiliate links that automatically generate revenue. More.
