It’s been another successful year for video games, as AAA exclusives and indie favorites have raised the bar for quality. From lavish remakes to stunningly original titles, the PlayStation library grew this year with the addition of these titles, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best together according to the critical numbers compiled by GameSpot’s sister site Metacritic. 2022 has booked two of Sony’s strongest console-exclusive games, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok, while the intervening months have also seen a huge shift towards releasing older first-party games on PC. With Nixxes leading the way, PC gamers have been able to get their hands on Spider-Man, God of War and Uncharted games enhanced on this system. Rounding out the list of new releases was also a selection of strong third-party games, spanning a wide range of genres and themes. Some have been wonderfully quirky, others have been re-updates and we’ve seen some fantastic retro collections come out this year. The list below includes the PS5 and PS4 versions.
