The collision between the bus and a Purolator cube truck happened at about 4:30 p.m. of June 30. There were 16 students visiting from Quebec on the bus at the time. The 18-year-old was sitting next to the window where the van hit and she was seriously injured. “After her classmates attempted first aid, the injured student was transported to Trail Regional Hospital and then to Kelowna General Hospital…” said RCMP Insp. Chad Badry in a statement. RCMP victim assistance and counselors from Selkirk College are assisting the students involved. The driver of the courier van remained at the scene. Police say investigators are trying to learn why the van driver crossed the center line and are seeking information or video from multiple drivers behind the van. The video from the bus shows three vehicles in particular: a blue two-door coupe, a silver SUV and an older gray Nissan Pathfinder. PC Premier John Horgan said his government is reaching out to the Quebec government to offer assistance. Anyone with information is asked to call the BC Highway Patrol in Nelson at 250-354-5180.
