Sony Sony is launching its own line of gaming PCs and headphones with a focus on gaming, hoping to capitalize on the lucrative high-tech gaming market as it looks beyond the main PlayStation console brand. Named Inzone, the Sony PC game series has two screens. The Inzone M9 display is the most expensive of the pair, with a retail price of $ 900. It has a 27-inch screen with 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz – which means a smoother image. A less expensive model, the $ 530 Inzone M3, has a higher refresh rate but lower resolution. The Inzone M9 will be available this summer, while the Inzone M3 will not be released until winter. As for the headphones, Sony said it will release three in total: The Inzone H9 ($ 300), Inzone H7 ($ 230) and Inzone H3 ($ 100). They are currently available for pre-order, although Sony has not yet given a release date. The most expensive of the three, the Inzone H9, is wireless and has noise canceling technology, as well as an “surround sound” feature that picks up sounds in your surroundings. The Inzone H7 is cheaper and lacks noise cancellation, but comes with a longer battery life – up to 40 hours, compared to 32 hours with the Inzone H9. The Inzone H3, meanwhile, needs to be wired to your computer. The move brings Sony face to face with established players in the PC gaming industry, including Lenovo, ASUS and Razer. It also gives the company a way to expand its video game business beyond the PlayStation gaming division. Sony has said it wants to take advantage of esports growth. “The market is expanding with more interest in gaming with the proliferation of e-sports tournaments and the advancement of gaming entertainment,” said Yukihiro Kitajima, head of gaming at Sony. “With Sony’s strong track record in high-tech audio and video products, we believe this new series will offer even more options to those who want to upgrade their current gaming systems.” Sony continues to face stiff competition from long-time competitor Microsoft, which has adopted an aggressive takeover strategy to expand its reach to an industry expected to be worth nearly $ 200 billion by 2022, according to meteorologists Newzoo. Both companies are betting heavily on a popular technology idea known as “metatars”, which includes huge immersive digital worlds where people can work or find entertainment. Earlier this year, Sony unveiled a new virtual reality headset called the PlayStation VR2.
