Return To Work And Report Management For Health Workers

Last Updated: June 28, 2022 This guidance is intended for health care workers (HCWs), occupational health and safety, public health personnel and health care professionals to support HCW return-to-work decisions with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 and HCW recommendations who had close contact reports. This includes HCW:

with a positive COVID-19 test result, for example, rapid antigen test (RAT) or polymerase chain reaction (PCR). with COVID-19-compatible symptoms found negative or untested. who traveled outside Canada. who had close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

The guidance includes information on the criteria for returning to work in recognition of the HCW vaccination regime for COVID-19 and the precautions to be followed when returning to work. The recommendations apply to all health care facilities, programs and services, including acute care, long-term care and assisted living, community physicians and primary care providers, outpatient clinics, and outpatient care.
