Lauren Verona, 42, is said to have died of an amniotic fluid embolism after giving birth to her third daughter, Lucinda, at their home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Now devastated husband Ryan Gaylard has paid tribute to his partner and their newborn baby who will be a precious reminder of his wife. “I want you all to know that Lauren bonded with our beautiful baby,” she said. “Lucinda means light, and she is certainly a light in these dark times. “There is pain from our unfathomable loss, but our hearts are filled with our little bundle of joy that Lauren has blessed us with.” The home birth initially appeared to be planned, Mr Gaylard said. The condition occurs when amniotic fluid or other fetal material enters the mother’s bloodstream and can prevent blood from clotting. Ms Verona was rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital where doctors battled to save her without success. Lauren Verona, 42, died of complications during childbirth after giving birth to her daughter Lucinda “There is little research into this condition as it does not occur often … it is as rare as hen’s teeth,” Mr Gaylard said. “The coroner is still investigating at a microscopic level in the hope that he can help make sense of this situation and maybe save another family from having to endure what we have for the last 22 days and would like to for the rest of our lives. “In true Lauren style, though, she was always helping people.” Mr Gaylard said his daughters described the day their younger sister was born as the “happiest and saddest” day of their lives. “These three girls are my absolute priority for the rest of my life.” Mr Gaylard spoke about the birth process the couple had taken before baby Lucinda was born. “Lauren believed strongly and was very intuitive about her body’s abilities and was always curious about the best ways to move forward for herself,” she said. “Inspire all women to empower themselves with this belief. What would Lauren say? “My mind, my body, my choice.” The family will hold a private funeral, followed by a public funeral at Sunshine Coast Stadium later in the month. Ms Verona ran Zenko Yoga in Noosaville, on the Sunshine Coast, and described the studio’s mission as “inspiring people to seek change and transformation within themselves”. Her death came just months after Ms Verona married the love of her life Ryan in an intimate wedding in February. Verona had been married just four months before she died in childbirth. The photos showed the pregnant mother-of-three dressed in a white dress tying the knot with her partner near a beach. Her distraught employees shared their devastation at her sudden death in a heartbreaking post on the company’s Facebook page. “This indescribable loss is deeply felt by all of us who are part of her teaching team, her family, her friends and we know it will be with all who knew her,” he wrote.
