(Privacy Commissioner Michael Harvey, file photo.) The province’s Privacy Commissioner has ruled that the Office of Women and Gender Equality must release some records requested through access to information, after they said the office refused to comply with the commissioner’s requests. The documents in question relate to “an employment matter”. They say the office provided the records to the complainant, with some information redacted. During the investigation, the office refused to provide the withheld information to the commissioner for review. They also refused to participate in an alternative process of providing a description of the information and an explanation of how the exemption applies. As a result, Commissioner Michael Harvey recommended that the information be provided.
