Anne-Marie Ready, 50, and Jasmine Ready, 15, died of stab wounds after an incident at a house on Anoka Street on Monday night, police said Wednesday afternoon. A 19-year-old girl was seriously injured and remains in hospital. Police say a 21-year-old man who was shot by police officers who responded to the call was found dead at the scene. His name has not been made public. Neighbors told CTV News Ottawa on Tuesday that a woman and her two daughters were staying at home. “The three lived there. They had a dog, but they came and went three or four times a day, I saw them,” said Les, a neighbor who asked not to use his last name, adding that the mother worked from home. The Alta Vista Community Association expressed its condolences to the families and relatives of the two victims, recognizing the victims as a mother and daughter. “These two people were well known, longtime members of our community and many of our neighbors and friends will be affected.” The Special Investigation Unit continues the investigation into the shooting at home by the police. The 911 call came from a house on Anoka Street at approximately 22:30 on Monday. “During the call, screams were heard, as well as information that someone was stabbed,” the SIU said on Monday. SIU says when officers arrived at the scene. they saw a man stabbing a woman on the street. “When the man disobeyed orders to drop the knife, three police officers dropped their firearms. The man was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene,” the SIU said in a statement. The 19-year-old woman who was seriously injured was hit by police fire, according to investigators. The bodies of the two women were found in the area.
