Winnipeg police say two men were stabbed during an argument around 12:30 a.m. on June 29, 2022. The two victims were taken to hospital with stab wounds, while a third female victim was treated for minor injuries. Investigators say they have charged two 15-year-old girls with possession of a concealed weapon in connection with the incident. One of them has also been charged with violating a court order. An 18-year-old man faces two counts of assault. None of the charges against the teenagers have been proven in court. All three suspects were released on bond. All victims are recovering. This comes after a recent spate of violent incidents in The Forks. Police had reported that a father and daughter were attacked in a parking lot in The Forks on June 27. Days later, a Ukrainian refugee who had been living in Winnipeg for two weeks was stabbed in The Forks on Canada Day. Police confirmed that one man was stabbed and the other sprayed with a bear knife. Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman said the violence is troubling. “It’s a terrible situation,” he told reporters Thursday. “We don’t want to see anyone get hurt whether they’ve lived here all their lives or they’re refugees. So obviously our thoughts are with the victims of this particular incident.” Winnipeg police said Chief Danny Smith will speak to the media Friday afternoon to address the recent incidents of violence in Forks.
