Round one: Harrison wants to strike early. Strong double leg puts her on top with side control for a minute. Half guard two minutes in. He throws right hands with a hook inside. He is positioned with full back and continues to hit until the referee enters. Final result: Def Harrison. Young by TKO (punches)
170 pounds: Rory MacDonald vs. Sadibou Sy
Round one: Early single leg attempt by MacDonald. He tries to go for the double, settles for putting him on the fence. One minute in. They are breaking up. Sy fires off a quick head kick and then clinches again. MacDonald drops to the mat to try and get a better angle, still nothing two minutes in. MacDonald knees him in the shakedowns with two minutes left. They restart at center range. Sy circles away from a combo, lands low kicks. MacDonald shoots once again, once again parried. One minute to go. They are breaking up. Straight from Sy, jabs from behind. Solid body kick from MacDonald in return. Short rights against the fence. Sy pops him with a counter right before he pins him. 10-9 Co. Round two: Both try front kicks to start. MacDonald puts him on the fence again. One minute in. Continuing to push Sy against the fence. Two minutes in. More of the same. Sy tries to reverse with two minutes left. Sai kicks him out. Head kick attempt. Drive directly from MacDonald in return. Jab and hook from Su, long uppercut just misses. MacDonald to the body. One minute to go. MacDonald looks for another monopod. Back to the fence-scratching. 10-9 MacDonald. Round three: MacDonald presses, lands a nice right hand and shoots once more. One minute in. They are breaking up. Body kick attempt by Sy. Another clinch, Sy pressing this time. Jockey for position. Back waist lock for MacDonald. Two minutes in. Knees to the body. Sy hits a trip to half guard with two minutes to go. MacDonald climbs up, puts him on the fence, then knees Shea in the trash again. Still no points deducted. Body kick by Sy, who avoids a front kick. He tries to shoot, gets worn on the fence, splits. Kicks to the head and body by Sy, then a quick jab as they tie up. One minute to go. MacDonald tries to fly to the exit. Low kick by Sy and a quick jab after missing a headlock. Knee to the body by MacDonald in return. Sy finishes things off with a pair of body shots. Thus ends the most fan-friendly performance of MacDonald’s career. 10-9 Co. Final result: Sy def. MacDonald by unanimous decision
170 pounds: Brett Cooper vs. Ray Cooper III
Round one: Cooper III comes out banging and starts to get loose on the fence. Cooper tries to fight back, but Cooper III knees him and body shots them before polishing him off. Final result: Cooper III def. Cooper by TKO (knee and punches)
170 pounds: Magomed Magomedkerimov vs. Dilano Taylor
Round one: Quick jab from Taylor. Magomedkerimov comes in with a combo, lands a left hook. One minute in. Both men sit out of striking range. Short skirmish, no knockdown ensues. Quick exchange in the center. Magomedkerimov tries a head kick, eats a low kick. First round at a slow pace. Body shot in clamp, can’t land right on exit. Two minutes left. Flying switch kick attempt catches Taylor in the groin, but he chooses to continue. Nice surprise from Magomedkerimov. He stands over Taylor near the cage, settling into guard. Punches from Magomedkerimov give Taylor a chance to climb, but he’s thrown right back into guard. 10-9 Magomedkerimov. Round Two: Low kick lands for Magomedkerimov. High-low 1-2 by Taylor. Heavy counter right from Magomedkerimov answers a low kick a minute in. Long 1-2 is short. Two minute sin. Back to the boxing touch. Taylor tries another bare low kick and Magomedkerimov lands the same counter to huge effect. Taylor almost shacks the mat, but manages to regain his feet. Two minutes left. Another big right hand from Magomedkerimov. Flying knee misses, but another big right lands clean. Taylor is up and the ref tags in for a permanent TKO. Final result: Magomedkerimov def. Taylor by TKO (punches)
155 lbs: Larissa Pacheco vs. Genah Fabian
Round one: Pacheco advances early. She trips Fabian with an inside low kick and then rocks her with a hard combination that forces Fabian to shoot. Pacheco denies it, moves into a back body lock and then takes her down the mountain by the fence. The arm triangle is there for her and she wraps it up. He can’t get into side control because of the cage and Fabian stiffing him. Caught in half guard, still clenching. He goes back to mount and lets it go in favor of blasting with punches until the ref intervenes. Final result: Pacheco def. Fabian by TKO (punches)
170 pounds: Jarrah Al-Silawi vs. Magomed Umalatov
Round one: Trial start. One minute in, no strikes. Umalatov punches the turnbuckle into the fence. Separation. Low blows from Al Silawi. Two minutes in. The referee wants action, the crowd has gone mad. Half kick from Umalatov. Decent knee clinch. Al Silawi comes back with a jab. Two minutes left. Umalatov looks for the 1-2-3. Al-Silawi catches one of his kicks, but Umalatov hits him with a short backfist that short circuits him. Umalatov hunts him down and bombs him unconscious in an abrupt end to a deadly dull battle.
