Toronto Police say officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of St. Clair and Lansdowne at 4:36 am
A man was found unconscious and rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, police said.
The driver fled, according to police.
“It’s early in our investigation, but it looks like it may be a failure to stay. We’re looking for video along St. Clair here and in Lansdowne and are appealing to anyone who may have been driving nearby, who has a dash cam at the time or residences or businesses along this area to contact us or the Traffic Services,” Duty Inspector Paul Krawczyk said at the scene.
Krawczyk said the suspect is described as a black man, between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a green T-shirt, black shorts and brown sandals.
Roads in the area are closed as police investigate.
