Police stand near what is believed to be a body on the lawn behind the Palisade Apartments Wednesday. UPDATE: 4:05 p.m The death behind Kelowna’s Palisade Apartment is not being treated as a criminal matter according to police. “Due to the nature of the incident, this is not a criminal act and falls under the BC Coroners Act,” said Sgt. Kevin Duggan of the Kelowna RCMP in a brief statement. It’s unclear how the person died, but a body lying on the lawn behind the apartment complex was covered by a pink sheet Wednesday afternoon. ORIGINAL: 1:15 p.m Police have swarmed a Pandosy apartment complex on Wednesday, but it is unclear why at this time. A resident of the Palisades Apartments complex at 3195 Walnut St. says about a half-dozen police vehicles arrived at the building just after noon Wednesday, along with two ambulances and a fire truck. The resident says emergency personnel appear to be focusing their attention on an area where a creek flows through the property, but he’s not sure what prompted the police response. As of 1 p.m., the fire truck and one of the ambulances have left the scene, but several RCMP officers remain at the scene. Castanet contacted the Kelowna RCMP for more information about the incident.
