A helicopter was used to lift the damaged side-by-side from the Spion Kop area on Saturday. UPDATE: 1:10 p.m One person is dead and another is in Kelowna General Hospital with injuries after a side-by-side rollover on the Spion Kop trail system early Saturday morning. Duane Tresnich, search manager with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, says the two people were riding in the same Polaris RZR just before 5 a.m. when the vehicle overturned. One person died on the spot while the other suffered head injuries and was taken to KGH. As a result, Spion Kop footpaths were closed on Saturday morning as emergency crews removed the body and vehicle from the scene. The trails are believed to have reopened. Residents in the area reported that a helicopter was seen lifting the side-by-side from the site around noon on Saturday. ORIGINAL: 11:25 AM There are reports that the trail network at Spion Kop in the Lake Country is closed on Saturday morning. A witness told Castanet several emergency vehicles showed up to the area Saturday morning and no one is allowed on the mountain as access to the trails has been closed by the RCMP.
