Bailey, who was elected to the state senate by Xenia, received significant state support and much-coveted approval from former President Donald Trump in the final stages of the qualifying round. Bailey ousted a busy field that included Aurora Mayor Richard Irwin, who was one of the campaign’s top favorites after using $ 50 million in donations from billionaire Ken Griffin of the Illinois Television series. Irwin also faced a flurry of attack ads from Pritzker himself and the Democratic Gov. Governor in the final stages of the campaign.

Businessman Gary Rabine, former Senator Paul Schimpf and lawyer Max Solomon finished the race well, according to forecasts. Now Bailey and his prospective partner will face Pritzker and Julianna Stratton in the November election. Pritzker will seek a second term in power, while Bailey will hope to overthrow the man with whom he has been involved in court throughout the COVID pandemic by suing the governor for mitigation and health policies. Bailey criticized the governor’s financial policies, citing the departure of several of the company’s headquarters in recent months as evidence that Pritzker has had a negative impact on the number of jobs in Illinois. The Union of Democratic Governors has already campaigned against Bailey, calling his policies “extreme right” and incompatible with the views of Illinois voters.
