The 14-year-old boy was found guilty of murder along with his adoptive parents Angharad Williamson and John Cole. He was sentenced to 15 years, while his biological mother Logan Williamson and Cole were sentenced to life in prison. To date (June 30), an anonymity order protecting Mulligan’s age has prevented him from being named in any media report. The lifeless body of Logan, a formerly “smiling, happy little boy”, was discovered in the Ogmore River on the morning of July 31, 2021. Police found him partially submerged, wearing dinosaur pajama pants and a Spider-Man T-shirt a few feet from his home. Logan Mwangi was found partially submerged in the Ogmore River by police on July 31, 2021. The young boy had suffered 56 external cuts and bruises and “catastrophic” internal injuries that the judge said were the result of a “violent attack”. Mulligan had moved into the family home in Sarn just five days before Logan’s death – a fact that prosecutors said was “not accidental”. Cole’s adopted son, who had raised him for nine months, Mulligan is said to have “seen” him and seen him as a “God-like” figure. Cole had an affair with Mulligan’s mother and the three moved to Wales for a “new beginning”. They later divorced, but remained in the same house as Mulligan, even when Cole began dating Angharad Williamson. Mulligan was later placed under the care of Bridgend County Board for six months. Caroline Rees QC, who is prosecuting, said Mulligan was already “a complex, troubled and violent boy” at the time. He was placed with foster families, one of whom described how he made their lives “living hell” for the several weeks he lived with them, and they “scared” him. They said he made repeated threats to kill them, injuring their daughter and foster mother and their dog. Concerns were raised when he asked two young girls if they wanted to play a “killing game” and said they should put them in black bucket bags. Although he spoke lovingly of his stepfather and stepmother, the family said they noticed he would only refer to Logan as “the five-year-old” and said he wanted to “kill the five-year-old”. They said he had a “desire for violence” and called him a “monster” in court cases. The family said they had informed Mulligan’s social worker about her concerns, but she denied it. “I like hitting kids on the head” Cole and Williamson applied to the family courts to have custody of Mulligan and on July 26, 2021 they won and came to live with them. Mulligan was big for his age and was interested in mixed martial arts, especially Muay Thai, as well as video games – his username was “King Hulk”. A supporter said Mulligan was once heard singing: “I love children, I love children, I like punching my head, it’s an orgasm.” Condemning Cole, Williamson and Mulligan on Thursday, Justice Jefford said she believed the physical assault on Logan was committed by Cole and Mulligan. However, he told Williamson: “This deadly attack could not have happened without your full knowledge and collusion.” A social services inquiry is now under way into the circumstances of Logan’s death. Explaining her decision to lift the anonymity decree, Justice Jefford said she would allow the public to better understand the circumstances of Logan Mwangi’s assassination. “There is a clear reason in the interest of open justice and the proper reporting of this trial and conviction that the reporting restrictions and at least the reporting of the family relationship should be lifted,” he said. “If we look at it from the other side, there is no good reason to limit the reporting of these issues. “Overall, I do not think there is any good reason to continue restricting the identification of Craig Mulligan.” John Cole was sentenced to life in prison and sentenced to at least 29 years. Angharad Williamson was also sentenced to life in prison and sentenced to at least 28 years, while Mulligan was sentenced to 15 years.
