Miki Sudo earned her eighth Nathan’s Celebrity Hot Dog Eating Contest victory in nine years on Monday, returning to the top dog after sitting out last year’s competition. The 36-year-old, who entered the 2021 Hot Dog Eating Contest because she was pregnant, devoured 40 dogs and buns – beating the nearest competition by 14. Sudo led for the entirety of the 10-minute contest, passing the 10-dog mark at the forty-minute mark. 2021 winner Michelle Lesco came in second on Monday, finishing second to her friend and former housemate for the fourth time. Sudo, a native of New York, first competed in the annual July 4th tradition in 2014 and has never lost. As of 2014 she is Major League Eating’s top female competitive eater. On Monday her husband and fellow competitor, Nick Wehry, bounced the 1-year-old over his head to cheers from the crowd as his wife accepted the championship belt in the mustard-yellow belt. “I didn’t know how hard it could be to compete after a kid,” Sudo said in a taped interview that aired on ESPN before the fight. “Max is the best thing that ever happened to me, and Nathan’s is second.”
