Manchester United’s revolution finally began on Tuesday when the club confirmed their first signing of the summer with the £14.6m capture of Tyrell Malacia. The left-back arrived from Feyenoord and marks the first signing under new boss Erik Ten Haag, who will look to lead the Red Devils back into the Champions League next season. United fans are sure to be delighted by the arrival of the Netherlands international, who has been praised for his move by former United and Feyenoord favorite Robin van Persie. Manchester United’s new signing Tyrell Malasia (left) has been congratulated on his arrival at the club for former Red Devils and Feyenoord favorite Robin van Persie. The Dutchman, whose career ended with a spell at Rotterdam, joined the Red Devils in 2012-13 from Arsenal and his 26 goals helped United to the last league title won in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final year . Van Persie ended his career at Feyenoord after two seasons in 2019, which overlapped with Malaysia’s first two years as a professional with the Dutch club. The former striker took to Twitter on Tuesday, in a video also tweeted by Feyenoord’s official account, wishing the 22-year-old the best of luck at Old Trafford as well as assuring Red Devils fans that their club had made a great signing. “Hi Tyrell, it’s Robin here, I’d like to congratulate you on your fantastic move to Manchester United,” Van Persie said in a video posted on Twitter. “At this big time in your career. A huge talent with a great fighting spirit – I’m sure he’ll suit him.’ The 22-year-old Dutch left-back has spent the past two days undergoing a medical at the club’s training base in Carrington and United have confirmed he has signed a four-year contract. A statement read: “Manchester United are pleased to confirm that Tyrell Malacia has joined the club on a contract until June 2026 with an option to extend for a further year.” Malacia is United’s first signing under Ten Hag and will join in time to go on a pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia on Friday. Red Devils fans will be hoping that the Netherlands international can make a major impact in the first team Malacia, who has made 136 appearances for Feyenoord and five for the Netherlands, said: “It’s an incredible feeling to join Manchester United. This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new teammates and an awesome coach to lead us. “I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities he has and what he demands from his players. “While I know I’m still young and will continue to develop, I can promise United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. “I will always be grateful to Feyenoord for everything they have given me and my family. None of this would have been possible without them. “I am now ready to focus on my future with United and help my new team succeed.” Malacia was pictured with a big smile as he signed his contract alongside Ten Hag, who will be relieved to have finally secured his first signing in the week of the team’s pre-season tour.
