Police and an ambulance were called to the scene on Christchurch Street in Boscombe at 9.52pm on Thursday. Police say the victim, a 67-year-old local man, was severely assaulted, knocked to the ground and knocked unconscious by another man. The 67-year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he remains with life-threatening injuries. His next of kin have been informed. The police cordon was in place for most of Friday morning A woman, who tried to intervene and help, was also pushed to the ground by the suspect. He then stole an electric scooter from another man before walking away from the scene towards the Pokesdown area. The assailant is described as white, tall and with short dark hair. He was wearing a gray tracksuit. The police presence remained in place overnight, with two officers remaining on the cordon throughout Friday morning. No arrests have been made. Read more: Drug activity reported at elderly man’s Boscombe flat Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are carrying out a series of inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident, which left a man with very serious head injuries. “I am appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to come forward as they may be able to assist our investigation. “I am also particularly keen to speak to the woman who tried to intervene to find out if she suffered any injuries and the man whose electric scooter was taken from him. They may have important information that could also help us. “Anyone with information about who the offender may be is asked to contact us urgently, as well as anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage.” The incident happened in Christchurch Road, Boscombe A witness at the scene said he saw a fight outside a pub and a man lying on the floor unconscious. Boscombe West Councilor Lewis Allison added: “I am saddened to hear once again of violent crime taking place in Boscombe. “I want to thank the members of the community who put themselves in harm’s way to help the man who was attacked. “I would reiterate the police’s appeals for any witnesses to come forward and encourage the people of Boscombe to do what they can to help tackle anti-social behavior by reporting all incidents directly to the police.” Conservative councilor for Boscombe West, Cllr Jane Kelly, said: “Incidents like this happen everywhere and all the time. It is not exclusive to Boscombe. “I am very sad for the man who was attacked and his family and I hope he makes a speedy recovery.”
