Police and paramedics were called to the scene in the 100 block of Ritchie Street, near Britannia Park, at about 1:10 p.m.
Paramedics said a 26-year-old man was taken to The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus trauma center in critical condition with a wound to his abdomen.

Police have closed off a car park at the Britannia Woods Community House complex and are urging people to avoid the area.
“Usually, this neighborhood is pretty peaceful and quiet,” said Cardian Currie, who lives in the neighborhood but did not see what happened.
“We have a lot of kids here and we have a lot of good programs for the kids. So when we see things like this, it bothers us.”
