A 65-year-old man died Friday after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Merivale and Baseline roads in the city’s west end.

The Ottawa Police Service made the announcement in a statement late Friday afternoon. Patrol officers responded to the scene of the crash just before 11 a.m. The police report said it involved a black 2020 Ford F150 truck pulling an orange trailer and a 2010 Dodge Journey SUV. The man who died was the driver of the SUV. The Ottawa Police Service said it would like to hear from witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, including anyone who may have dash cam video of the crash. Anyone with such information was asked to call the OPS Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca. Four other people were treated, but their injuries were considered minor, the Ottawa Paramedic Service said.
