Love and Thunder has been a long time coming as fans eagerly await Marvel Studios’ latest theatrical adventure. Reviews of the project have been mostly positive so far with Richard Nebens of The Direct calling it “one of his best films [the MCU] until today.” But with every new MCU theatrical release now comes the question of when the title will appear on Disney+. So, as Thor: Love and Thunder nears its big release, here are the best bets for when the movie will hit Disney’s streaming platform.

When will Thor: Love and Thunder start streaming?

Miracle With Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder hitting theaters around the world, fans are starting to wonder when the movie will finally come to Disney+. Right now, that timeline is anyone’s guess, but there is some available data to look at to get a good idea of when the film will be coming home. So far in Phase 4, audiences have seen a few gaps between the theatrical release and the streaming debut. More recently, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw the shortest amount of time exclusively on the big screen, starting airing just 47 days after its theatrical release. If Love and Thunder follows in MoM’s footsteps, that would bring Chris Hemsworth’s sequel to Disney’s streaming home on Wednesday, August 24. Right now, that’s the best bet. Other films in Phase 4 had different exclusive theatrical windows. The Eternals was on the big screen for 68 days before arriving on Disney+, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings appeared on the streaming service 70 days after its theatrical release. Both of those numbers definitely seem on the higher end, so if Thor 4 breaks that Multiverse of Madness signal, it probably won’t eclipse Shang-Chi’s 70-day count.

Thor 4’s Best Chances for a Disney+ Release

Another factor to consider when predicting Love and Thunder’s streaming date is Disney+ Day. The unofficial holiday celebrating the House of Mouse has garnered attention in recent years, as the company reveals updates on various projects headed to the service, as well as some surprises on its day. Last year, Shang-Chi debuted on Disney+ Day after its theatrical run. So there is a chance that Thor 4 will follow the same pattern. This year’s streaming events are scheduled for September 8th, which is 64 days after Love and Thunder’s release date. That would be larger than some might expect and against the higher end of these forecasts, but it’s entirely plausible. What better way to celebrate the day than with one of the biggest Disney movies of the year coming out on their streaming hub? Thor: Love and Thunder debuts in theaters on July 8.
