According to Resonance Consultancy, a real estate consultancy, Kelowna is second among the top 25 cities in its first ranking of cities with a population of less than 200,000. Resonance’s Best Cities rankings quantify and compare the relative quality of place, reputation and competitive identity of cities around the world. “Our Best Cities rankings have been the global benchmark for measuring city performance since 2014, used by global governments and media outlets such as National Geographic and AFAR to assess the trajectory of global urban centers, such as and small,” says Resonance President and CEO Chris Fair. . “The Best Cities ranking consists of experiential factors that people consider most important in choosing a city to live and visit, as well as experiential factors that business decision makers consider important for business or investment.” Based on how each city performed on the 32 factors analyzed in 2022, these are Canada’s best small cities this year: The ranking uses a wide range of factors, including user-generated reviews and online activity on channels such as Google, Facebook and Instagram.

“As a result, Resonance’s Best Cities Ranking does not only consider cities as places to live, work or visit, but takes a more holistic approach using a wide range of factors that show positive correlations with attracting employment, investment and/or visitors . ” says Fair. Some of the contributing factors include the number of quality dining experiences and museums, employment, direct flight connections, and mentions each city has on Instagram. “As our cities and borders reopen, it’s clear that cities have changed since the pandemic — and so have Canadians,” says Fair.
