Photo: Contributed The Kanata Kelowna Hotel & Conference Center on Harvey Avenue has been sold to Vernon-based Hollypark Hotels Corporation. “We are thrilled to acquire this hotel in such a prime location in downtown Kelowna,” says Sam Dhillon, Hollypark’s 35-year-old CEO. “I believe tourism growth in the Kelowna area will outpace most Canadian markets over the next decade. We are betting big on the hotel sector after two years of uncertainty in the industry.” Hollypark Hotels closed the deal on June 10, 2022, after hitting the pause button on future development plans due to the pandemic. The plan also includes an overhaul and transformation into an internationally recognized hotel brand. The hospitality company also owns and operates the Fairfield by Marriott hotels in Vernon and Salmon Arm, BC, which the company developed and built in 2013 and 2021, respectively. The Kanata Kelowna Hotel & Conference Center is a 190-room hotel with over 5,000 square feet of conference space. The hotel originally opened in 1993 with 120 rooms and expanded by 70 rooms in a seven-story tower and park in 2010. “I understand this is the second highest price ever paid for a hotel in BC outside of the Lower Mainland, after the Grand Okanagan Resort sold in 2008. Market sentiment continues to be bullish for Kelowna and the Okanagan in general” , added Mack Hair. , who was previously involved in the sale of two other major Kelowna hotels, the Hotel Eldorado and the Best Western Plus. The sale price of the Kanata Kelowna Hotel & Conference Center was not disclosed.
