July will build on that excitement with the first public betas of iOS 16, macOS Ventura and everything else, along with the real M2 showcase: the new MacBook Air. See what we expect Apple to deliver in July 2022. Update 10:35 a.m. ET: Information on the rumored release date of the MacBook Air has been added.

M2 MacBook Air

The only major hardware release we expect from Apple in July is the new MacBook Air. But what a release it must be! The new M2 processor at heart can be the least exciting improvement. There’s a brand new wedge-shaped design, but it’s still slimmer and lighter than ever, new Midnight and Starlight colors, larger screen with thinner bezels and slot, much improved 1080p webcam, new speakers and microphones and MagSafe charging. The new MacBook Air starts at $ 1,199 and Apple has not yet given an exact release date, saying only that it will be released in July. However, the latest rumors suggest that it will arrive on July 15. We suspect that demand will quickly outstrip supply, so be prepared to pre-order immediately if you wish. The new MacBook Air is thinner than the previous model, but loses its wedge design. apple

Software applications and updates

When Apple unveiled the fall WWDC operating system updates in June, it said we could expect developer betas right away, followed by public betas in July. As June draws to a close, we do not yet have a specific release date, but we expect it to arrive in the week of July 11th – the third developer beta shortly followed by the first public betas, which should be essentially identical versions. iOS 16: iOS 16 brings some really great new features and you will have the opportunity to try it out in July. Here’s how to sign up for the iOS beta. iPadOS 16: iPadOS 16 mostly reflects iOS updates, but the new Stage Manager feature (iPad M1 only) is a big deal. watchOS 9: watchOS 9 brings improvements to sleep monitoring, fitness, and clock faces. tvOS 16: Although tvOS 16 does not bring many obstacles to the new features, it will continue to be updated this fall to keep up with other Apple operating systems. macOS 13 Ventura: Highlights of macOS 13 include Continuity Camera, Weather and Clock, Stage Manager and many application updates. Here’s how to get macOS Ventura beta. Aside from the beta of iOS 16, those who are not interested in trying out advanced versions of Apple operating systems are also likely to be released in July. IOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, tvOS 15.6, watchOS 8.7 and macOS 12.5 had several beta versions and are probably very close to the final public release. These versions mostly contain just bug fixes and security updates.
