The dad-of-one, from Blackpool, has been making fans of the TV station laugh alongside his sister Sophie for five years. 2 Pete Sandiford has no plans to quit his day job as a rooferCredit: Rex Although they are now household names, the Channel 4 show’s £1,500-a-month figure isn’t enough to live on. Speaking to The Sun at the Tric Awards, Pete, 27, said: “We’ve just seen Eammon Holmes. I’m just a builder from Blackpool so it’s a bit strange when celebrities recognize us. I was on a roof yesterday.” Asked if he would consider quitting his job, he said: “I’ve got to pay my mortgage somehow.” And he’s not interested in trying his hand at another reality show, saying: “No, nothing compares to sitting on the couch.” Eamonn Holmes was the winner of the night, winning the News Presenter of the Year award. He issued a warning to GMB in the winners’ room, saying: “We’re coming for you.” He also hit out at former employer ITV, branding it a “ministry of lies”, following his axing from This Morning last year. Meanwhile, Pete is married to his wife Paige and they have a son, Jimmy. Paige is believed to work as an emergency operator, but the couple have remained tight-lipped about their relationship. Proud papa Pete let slip that they had become parents at last year’s National Television Awards. 2 Sophie and Pete have been on Gogglebox for five years Credit: Channel 4
