A huge fire destroyed a building on East Hastings Street in Vancouver on Wednesday night and firefighters reported no injuries. Brad Essay, Vancouver Fire and Rescue Assistant Operations Chief, said crews arrived at the scene at 1820 East Hastings Street just before 10pm to detect a full-blown fire. More than 45 firefighters rushed to the blaze, which was visible throughout the city and emitted a large plume of smoke. Hasse says this is a third alarm and the building collapsed on its own. “There are no reports of injuries,” said Hesse. A nearby building was damaged by heat, but the fire was contained to the Value Village building. “THE [firefighters] “I will definitely be tired, we will be here for a while,” he says. The causes of the fire are not clear at this time.
