The Harry Potter author sparked outrage on Twitter by posting a picture of the Manx flag, which she described as the “third flag”. The author, who has come under fire several times for her controversial views, posted the country’s national flag in a Twitter thread. She said: “I’m not angry, Julie, I’m just deeply disappointed. “If you decide to think, learn and do better, you can start by displaying the third flag in all future tweets.” Residents from the island have objected to her tweet, accusing the author of using the flag as a “symbol of hate”. House of Keys Member for Douglas East Clare Barber called on Rowling for her comments. She said: “This year we are celebrating our 2nd @isleofpride festival and marking 30 years since the decriminalization of homosexual acts; standing up for all marginalized communities and celebrating our trans community and those with mental illness. “Using our flag in this conversation is not okay.” JK Rowling’s reps have been contacted for comment.
