Music legend Carlos Santana collapsed on stage during a concert in Michigan on Tuesday afternoon due to heat exhaustion and dehydration and “is fine,” Santana’s manager said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“Rock legend Carlos Santana was overcome by heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday (July 5) afternoon in Michigan,” manager Michael Vrionis said. “The guitar great walked out of his show at the Pine Knob Music Theater….Carlos was taken to the McLaren Clarkston emergency department for observation and is doing well…The show for tomorrow July 6th at The Pavilion in Star Lake (formerly S&T Bank Music Park) in Burgettstown, PA. will be postponed to a later date. More details will follow via Live Nation.” The guitarist was treated by medics after he passed out and eventually walked off the stage while greeting fans, according to FOX 2 Detroit and fan video from the concert. The musician released a statement on his Facebook page thanking fans for their concern on Tuesday night. “To one and all thank you for your precious prayers, Cindy and I are good to take it easy,” he said, referring to his wife Cindy Blackman. “I forgot to eat and drink water so I got dehydrated and passed on blessings and miracles to you all.” Santana passed out about 40 minutes into his set while performing “Joy,” according to FOX 2. He apparently sat on a stool and appeared to pass out. Suddenly a chair appeared where there wasn’t one before. The doctors started rushing up on the stage.” Officials said the musician received “serious medical attention,” WDIV-TV reported.
