“Finally some good news,” Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague told CTV News Toronto on Friday. McTeague said gas prices would fall 11 cents per liter on Friday morning, in part due to a reduction in Ontario’s provincial gas tax. “Since the 11-minute drop, 6.5 cents is due to the provincial government’s fall in the gas tax and 4.5 cents is due to the markets,” McTig said. He said the average price of gas in Ontario on Friday would be $ 1.93 cents a liter, which is the lowest since May 12. “If that’s not enough for people, now I’m looking at things even more,” McTeague said. McTeague said on Saturday that gas prices were likely to fall another six cents per liter. That would bring gas prices to an average of $ 1,879 cents per liter, the lowest level since April 30. “Anyone reading this, I tell you, do not go to a gas station if you do not need it,” McTeague said. “You do not often see these big reductions. It is worth the wait.” McTeauge said this would be a “short-term relief” for motorists and that prices were likely to rise above $ 2.10 by mid-July. “I do not think this will last,” he said. “So take advantage of it.”
