A total of 30 flights have been removed from the breakfast schedule as travel chaos continues at UK airports. Most passengers are expected to resume booking for non-peak hours, which will allow them to fly out today. A Heathrow spokesman said: “We are expecting more passengers this morning than the airport is currently able to handle, so to keep everyone safe we have asked airlines to remove 30 flights from the morning only for today. “We apologize for the impact this has had on travel plans. “We are working hard to ensure that everyone has a smooth trip to Heathrow this summer and the most important thing is to ensure that all airport service providers have enough resources to meet demand.” A “small number” of British Airways flights are among those affected, with the airline saying it is in contact with affected customers. It is expected that 98% of non-airport flights will take place as planned. Customers affected by the cancellations should contact their airline and be advised of possible alternatives. “Absolute disaster” However, some passengers did not learn that their flights were canceled until they arrived at the busiest airport in the United Kingdom. Travel writer and broadcaster Andy Mossack said: “There was a lot of chaos in Heathrow this morning. British Airways flights were canceled and customer service was not available.” A passenger traveling with a 12-week-old baby told Sky News that he was not informed that his family’s flight to Greece was canceled except five minutes away from the airport. Another affected passenger, Andrew Douglas, described how he was going on a holiday flight, but “spent the last four hours in long queues at Heathrow Airport because it was canceled”. He added: “Absolute disaster, complete chaos and I only found out at check-in without prior notice. Terrible service.” Have you been affected by Heathrow cancellations?
