The children were born weeks before the billionaire welcomed his second child, a surrogate, with his on-again, off-again partner, musician Grimes. In April, Musk, 51, and Zillis, 36, filed to change the twins’ names to “have their father’s last name” and include part of their mother’s last name in their middle name, according to the documents. A Texas court approved the request in May. (District Court of Travis County, Texas) The Independent has contacted Neuralink, Mr Musk and Ms Zilis for comment. Mr. Musk has a total of nine children. Court documents show the couple listed the same home address in Austin, Texas, according to Insider. Tesla has a large factory on the outskirts of the city and Mr Musk’s SpaceX rocket company flies out of the southern city of Boca Chica. Ms. Zilis is a Yale-educated artificial intelligence major. She and Mr. Musk met through OpenAI, the non-profit artificial intelligence research organization she helped found in 2015. Ms. Zeli is a member of OpenAI’s board of directors. He then joined Mr. Musk at his flagship company, Tesla, as a project manager working on the automaker’s computer chips and Autopilot program. She is now director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, another Musk-led company that designs computer implants to allow people’s brains to control electronic devices. The company has so far only tested its technology on animals. Ms Zilis has staunchly defended Mr Musk in the past from his critics, writing in a 2020 post that “there is no one I respect and admire more”. In September, Musk and Grimes, whose real name is Claire Busse, split, before later reuniting in some capacity and welcoming a daughter via surrogate in December. In March, Ms. Boucher said she and Mr. Musk had separated again. She told Vanity Fair in a profile that month that she and the Tesla CEO had a “fluid relationship” and planned to have more children together. “There’s no real word for it,” he said. “I’d probably refer to him as my friend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We are best friends. We see each other all the time…. We just have our own things and I don’t expect other people to understand that.” The strictness of Mr. Musk’s personal life has continued to increase in recent months. In May, Insider reported that SpaceX paid a company flight attendant $250,000 in damages after she accused Musk of exposing himself and propositioning her for sex. Musk denied the claims, claiming “there’s a lot more to this story” and calling the article a “politically motivated car.”
