The pedestrian in the center of Agios Ioannis reopened for another summer. The inauguration was not only greeted with fanfares, but, in the true manner of St. John, with a chill in the air as the fog rolled through the straits. However, as soon as the ribbon was cut and some of the fog burned, the summer heat united the people who began to fill the streets. For the inauguration, Mayor Breen participated with many city councilors, of St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi MHA John Abbott and St. John’s East, Joanne Thompson. Mayor Breen says there is a different feeling at the pedestrian mall this year compared to previous reruns as the province emerges from the pandemic. He says more people will visit this year, noting that many cruise ships will visit during the schedule. The pedestrian shopping center will be open daily from now until Labor Day.
