Rep. Ro Khanna of California criticized President Biden for planning to visit Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and for going back on his campaign promise to make Saudi Arabia a pariah state. On “America Reports” Thursday, Khanna called it “ironic” that President Biden is “begging Saudi Arabia for oil” despite the president exporting American oil to other countries, including China. HANNAH: First of all, look, Crown Prince MBS hacked an American journalist to death – [Jamal] Khashoggi – and there was legitimate bipartisan outrage. The president ran saying he was going to make Saudi Arabia a pariah state, that he wasn’t going to bind MBS. They are still involved in a brutal war in Yemen. And I don’t think he should go meet with MBS until MBS takes some responsibility for the killing of the American journalist and until they end the war in Yemen. But look at the irony. We will be begging Saudi Arabia for oil while we export our own oil around the world. I mean, it doesn’t make sense. And the Saudis will play us.
